Greta Thunburg - The Gem 💎 Of Nature.

In this era of the internet and AGI, almost everyone is aware of who Greta Thunberg is.
Greta Thunberg, a two-time Nobel Prize nominee, activist, protester, poster girl for environmental protection, the passionate young girl from Sweden, and a climate change advocate, is known in many ways for many reasons.
Greta Thunberg was born on January 3rd 2003 in Stockholm, Sweden. As a child, Greta was not much different. However, she became aware of global warming early in her life after watching a TV program on climate change. She once stopped eating for several days worrying about the hazards we humans cause to environment. She had to face very negative bullying experiences from other children at school. She quarrelled , "I don’t want to have a friend. Friends are children and all children are mean”.

As a teenager her viewpoint on celebrities were quite different.
These were her exact words to her mother at the breakfast table "your celebrities are basically to the environment what anti immigrant politicians are to multicultural society”.
World started noticing Greta after her solitary weekly protest outside the Swedish parliament in 2018 , millions of people got inspired by the little girl. People around the globe got into streets and demanded governments to take emergency action on climate change.
She became a sensation after the 2019 Climate Action Summit,During her legendary speech at UN,she quoted,
"I shouldn't be up here,"
"I should be back at school on the other side of the ocean," "Yet, you all come to us young people for hope.

How dare you? You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words."

“We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you?”

Russian President Putin, in response to her speach said “I may disappoint you but I don’t share the common excitement about the speech by Greta Thunberg. No one has explained to Greta that the modern world is complex and different”.

She  became an instant Twitter favourite with her tweet clash with former US president Donald Trump.

Back then, when She was selected as the youngest Time person of the year Trump trolled her with word ‘ridiculous’ and said she has to ‘Chill’, work on her anger management issue and should go for a movie with a friend.

Her response was changing her Twitter bio to below.

Her responses won hearts, and she won the tweet battle with the former President.

She used the same ‘Chill’ ‘Donald’ parting tweet when Trump finally lost US election.Nothing more happening there as Trump was banned and now not much active on X.

She was also called a ‘brat’ by former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro. This happened when she reacted with below tweet to the death of people in Guajarara tribe ,who are the protectors of rain forests.

“Indigenous people are literally being murdered for trying to protect the forrest from illegal deforestation. Over and over again. It is shameful that the world remains silent about this.”

Presidents will come and go Greta is here to stay.In her own words “But the facts do not lie. And we know that our emperors are naked.”

She backed Biden and he has shown solidarity with her by officially rejoing Paris climate treaty. However in a recent interview she said that even though Biden is better than Trump, We can not backout from forcing US administration to take necessary actions for climate change.

Her response to the unkind remarks from those who trolled her for her looks was

“I have Asperger's and that means I'm sometimes a bit different from the norm. And - given the right circumstances -being different is a superpower."

and this one in Instagram

"When haters go after your looks and differences, it means they have nowhere left to go. And then you know you're winning!"

Some of her tweets are just so brutal, funny and effective against public display of money and phoney richness such as one below.

And the last tweet of “He went looking for attention; he got it” when the above he got arrested in charges related to drug trafficking, which although he had denied.

Her accidental tweets to support farmers fighting for justice sparked a row in India and her images where burned by supporters against farmers fight.A tool kit shared by Greta encouraged people to organise supporting protests either at or near Indian Embassies. There are rumours that the toolkit was influenced by Poetic justice foundation from Canada, an organisation supporting sikh activism from Canada against present Indian government under Modi.

Her tweet next day cleared the air. She wrote “I still #StandWithFarmers and support their peaceful protest. No amount of hate, threats or violations of human rights will ever change that.#FarmersProtest”.

People fighting for justice and change can not act in isolation, they need backing to stand for what is righteous.

She stood in support for vaccine equality during COVID .She had to threaten boycotting the climate talks in Glasgow if vaccines were not distributed to people judiciously.

She recently met Ukraine President Vladimir Zelensky. The meeting was aimed to discuss the severe environmental damage caused by Russia's war on Ukrain

Thunberg pointed out that the global response to this environmental destruction, also known as "ecoside" was not sufficient.

During invasion Russian forces did deliberately harm the environment and the lives of civilians. Ecocide refers to the widespread destruction of ecological systems by humans with long-lasting consequences.

This main reason for this meeting was to analyze the environmental damage, making Russia aware and accountable about this ,also to work on restoration efforts.

During the meeting Ukrainian General Andriy Kostin highlighted that the environment in Ukraine has suffered greatly during the conflict, 30% of Ukraine's land was contaminated by explosives and extensive damage done to forests and ecosystems.

The destruction of Ukraine's Nova Kakhovka dam was considered a significant environmental disaster. The dam, situated on the frontline of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, was a major source of water to Ukraine. Ukraine blamed Russia for destroying it in a panicked response to Ukraine's counter offensive.

President at Zelensky expressed Ukraine's gratitude to Greta Thunberg and team for their support, emphasizing its importance.

Back to Greta,

Her recent protest includes one at Lutzerath coal mine in Germany, where she addressed around 6,000 protesters. They marched towards Lutzerath on a Saturday, condemning the expansion of the mine as a 'betrayal of present and future generations.' She and fellow members were arrested and later released."

She is also protesting against Rosebank oil field in the Scotland and went against torries decision to approve it.The project will Approximately excavate 500 million barrels of oil in it's life time. UK Interior Minister Suella Braverman, has already made it clear that Britain will take a practical approach to achieving net zero because it could not "save the planet by bankrupting the British people".Let us wait and watch what is going to happen.

She recently got arrested for blocking oil tankers in part of Malmo harbor in Sweden.“After having blocked the industry which is burning our future, we have now been charged with crime. While charges are being brought against us, the real crime continues inside the gates that we blocked,” was the comment from the group backed by Greta.

If you have already noticed, in all these rivalaries Greta had the last laugh. That is because she stands on the side supporting humanity. Her noble, selfless acts aim to protect Mother Earth and all life within it.

She is not biased by money, glory, awards or the meaningless self-boasting games of politics and business.

She walks her talks. She doesn't travel aeroplanes due to heavy carbon emission from them. She dislikes when people are focusing too much on her. Instead, she encourages everyone to take action for the environment and reduce their individual carbon footprint.

She said "I want you to act as if the house is on fire, because it is.Hope is not passive. Hope is not blah, blah, blah. Hope is taking action.
When I’m taking action, I don’t feel like I am helpless and that things are hopeless, because then I feel like I’m doing everything I can. We are the change we have been waiting for and I have learned you are never too small to make a difference".
