Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai made it a day of double joy for Thailand as they captured the mixed doubles crown.
They defeated Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei of Malaysia 21-12, 21-18 in a battle between top two seeded pairs in the final.
Women Singles
The Japanese shuttler Aya ohori on Sunday defeated home favourite Supanida Katethong (18-21, 21-17, 21-13) to win the women’s singles title and end her title drought of six years.
Women Doubles
Thailand’s Benyapa Aimsaard and Nuntakarn Aimsaard claimed titles after defeating Li Yijing and Luo Xumin of China in a three-game thriller in the women's doubles title showdown.
Benyapa and Nuntakarn fended off seven championship points and converted theirs on the first attempt as they secured a 21-13, 17-21, 27-25 victory in an hour and 22 minutes.
Men Singles
Singapore’s former world champion Loh Kean Yew lost to Taiwanese world No. 14 Chou Tien-chen in the men’s singles final of the US$210,000 (S$282,000) Thailand Masters at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.
Loh After winning the runner-up said: “Although I didn’t win, I’m still happy that I managed to reach the finals. I’ve been working on some minor changes and the coaches and I are glad to see improvements.
Men Doubles
China's He Jiting and Ren Xiangyu came from behind to upset home pair Peeratchai Sukphun and Pakkapon Teeraratsakul for the men's doubles title at the badminton Thailand Masters here on Sunday.
After losing the first set 21-16, He and Ren bounced back to emerge victorious 21-14, 21-13.
